As a board-certified doctor and fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Lyon specializes in treating conditions of the foot and ankle, including lower extremity trauma, foot and ankle pain, arthritis, sports injuries, sprains, bunions, hammer toes, deformities and flat feet.
Dr. Lyon earned his Doctor of Medicine degree at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan. After medical school, he completed residence training in orthopedic surgery at KCMS/MSU and Western Michigan University School of Medicine in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and went on to complete an Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Fellowship at Grand Rapids Orthopaedic Associates of Michigan in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where he received in-depth training in foot and ankle trauma.
Dr. Lyon is passionate about making sure his patients are involved in their care plan. His patients can expect to be treated with care and competency, and to be treated as a person and not just their injury. Dr. Lyon believes it’s important to work with his patients to set goals for recovery and then come up with a treatment plan specific to meet or exceed those goals. Dr. Lyon says what motivates him is seeing one of his patients return happy, pain free and doing the things they want to do. Often true in fracture and trauma cases, Dr. Lyon sees patients on what they may consider to be one of their worst days. Watching his patients meet or exceed their goals is what it takes for him to feel like he’s done his job successfully. Board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, Dr. Lyon has been practicing in the Indianapolis area since 2017. He joined Central Indiana Orthopedics in 2021.
