Meet Dr. Bill Hall, board-certified physician at Central Indiana Orthopedics Fishers and Anderson offices. Dr. Hall specializes in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation with a focus on treatment of back and neck pain, including radiating pain down the arm and leg. The majority of his practice is dedicated to interventional spine treatments for back pain, so he spends most of his time performing spinal procedures and injections for pain.
Dr. Hall’s grandfather sparked his interested in medicine at a young age. “I first knew that I wanted to be a doctor chatting with my granddaddy,” Dr. Hall said. “He was an eye doctor, and I really respected how he treated his patients and what he was doing to help people. I felt like I really wanted that for myself, so that was my first inkling that medicine was the right field for me.”
After making the decision to pursue medicine, Dr. Hall earned his medical degree from the Saint Louis University School of Medicine. He went on to complete his medical internship and residency at the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio. He practiced in the Indianapolis area for almost 15 years before joining CIO in 2016.
Dr. Hall says one of the things patients should know about him is he’s a really good listener. “I feel like if you’re going to trust me with your care, the least I can do is be a good listener,” Dr. Hall said. “Back pain can be really hard to treat, and listening to my patients’ complaints really helps me find the source of pain and determine best treatment options.”
When treating patients and determining treatment options, Dr. Hall likes to use a team approach, as he believes working as a team results in better outcomes. “Each patient is different, and my job is to figure out why you are having the pain. I think if we work together, we can pick which option is best for each individual to meet their goals.”
During an evaluation, a patient can expect Dr. Hall to do a thorough evaluation, review health history and prior treatments and perform an appropriate workup. What he loves about working at CIO is he has access to orthopedic physicians, neurosurgeon and sports medicine physicians to help guide him in the diagnosis and treatment of his patients, if needed. This typically allows him to determine the source of pain a lot quicker, resulting in the patient being able to return to doing what they love sooner.
What Dr. Hall loves most about his job is seeing the smiles on his patients’ faces after taking care of their pain, “I love seeing my patients’ improved function once their pain is gone,” Dr. Hall said. “When someone comes in and they previously couldn’t walk or they were hunched over, and then they walk in smiling and happy, doing what they want to do – playing golf, working in the yard, playing with their grandkids – that gives me a sense of accomplishment.”
When Dr. Hall isn’t seeing patients, he loves spending time on the water boating, waterskiing and wakeboarding, being with his family and playing tennis.
