It’s the Most Thankful Time of the Year

Like you, we’re certainly grateful for many things in our lives throughout the entire year…but Thanksgiving is obviously the time when we really bring our blessings into focus (even though we’re orthopedic specialists and not ophthalmologists – little medical humor there!).

Here are just a few things that immediately come to mind when we think about what we’re grateful for here at Central Indiana Orthopedics:

Our staff hanging in there the last two years. We’ve ALL struggled with different issues during this global pandemic, and the medical community has had its own struggles. During the height of the pandemic, we had to cancel surgeries, implement even more stringent cleaning protocols (and we had extremely high cleaning benchmarks before the pandemic), implement mask-wearing for all staff and patients, social distancing…you know. Through it all, our staff was flexible, patient and hardworking. In an environment where so many people have quit their jobs, we’re grateful that our staff has stayed intact for the most part. We are so happy you’re here and thankful for your dedication to our patients.

Our staff’s upbeat and fun-loving spirit. Not only are our corporate staff, providers and physicians dedicated, we also like to have fun! From just having a daily positive attitude to a collegial atmosphere to our highly competitive and incredibly spirited Halloween costume contests, the CIO staff knows how to bring positivity and have a good time!

Being part of our local communities. We don’t all just work in Anderson, Fishers, Marion and Muncie; we live, play and volunteer in those communities as well. Whether our docs are serving as team physicians, volunteering their time or just cheering our patients on, it’s important to all of us that we know our patients outside the walls of our offices, and we’re thankful to be part of such welcoming, wonderful communities.

Advancing technologies that improve outcomes. You probably don’t think of putting robotics on the top of your thankful list this season, but there may be a few hundred patients out there who are doing just that! Technology may not be warm and fuzzy, but the advances our doctors are incorporating into their practice are changing lives. So we’re mindful this time of year that there are scientists, engineers, physicians and others who are making the world a better place one new technology at a time.

Seeing our patients’ success stories. We are so fortunate to be able to do what we do every day: help improve the quality of people’s lives. We never, ever get tired of seeing a patient who has been experiencing chronic pain or has been sidelined by an acute injury recover and get back to doing what they love. As our doctors often say, while we love our patients, the best thing that can happen is we never see them again because the issue they came in for no longer exists! We’re more grateful for the chance to be part of their joy than we can say.

We hope this season finds you thankful for the small and large blessings in your life. And if you’re a CIO patient, please know how thankful we are for you! Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at Central Indiana Orthopedics.
