Patients with Injuries Encouraged to Skip the ER and Visit Walk-In Clinics

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, hospitals have seen a significant increase of patient volume in their emergency rooms. Patients seeking medical care for urgent musculoskeletal injuries are at an increased risk of contracting an illness by visiting an emergency room during this health crisis.

As a result, Central Indiana Orthopedics is keeping our Walk-In Clinics open during the day, Monday-Friday. We are working closely with local hospitals to encourage otherwise healthy patients with urgent musculoskeletal injuries to skip the ER and visit our Walk-In Clinic. Ultimately, this will help free up space and resources in the emergency rooms to help sick patients in need.

To protect our patients and staff, we’ve implemented a screening process upon entry of our buildings. Questions will be asked about flu-like symptoms, shortness of breath, fever, etc. If temperature is above 100.0, the patient/visitor will be asked to go home and call their family provider for further instruction.

We are constantly monitoring updates and regulations from the CDC and State Department of Health. Should we need to reduce our Walk-In Clinic hours due to health regulations, we will share updates as necessary.
