Central Indiana Orthopedics (CIO) has joined the Anthem HealthSync Designated Orthopedic Network, expanding access to quality-driven, cost-efficient hip and knee replacement care for eligible members. As part of this participation, CIO Fishers Surgery Center and CIO Muncie Surgery Center became participating facilities in the network effective July 1, 2026.
The Anthem HealthSync Designated Orthopedic Network is a value-based care model that connects members with high-performing orthopedic surgeons and facilities for primary and revision hip and knee replacement procedures. While participation in the program was previously optional, effective Jan. 1, 2026, eligible Anthem HealthSync members are required to receive these procedures within the designated network.
“Joining the HealthSync network is an important step in expanding access to quality-driven joint replacement care,” said Dr. Steve Herbst, President and Orthopedic Surgeon at Central Indiana Orthopedics. “By bringing our physicians and ambulatory surgery centers into the network, we are increasing the number of locations where patients can receive specialized care focused on both outcomes and cost efficiency.”
The addition of CIO increases capacity within the network and provides Anthem HealthSync members with more options to receive care in settings designed to support efficiency, consistency and a strong patient experience.
The Anthem HealthSync program is utilized by a wide range of employers, including a significant population of state employees in government and public education. The model is designed to create a more predictable and coordinated experience for patients undergoing joint replacement, while also helping manage overall healthcare costs for employers.
Through the network, eligible members benefit from:

- A coordinated and efficient pathway from evaluation through recovery
With the inclusion of ASCs, patients have greater flexibility in choosing where they receive care. Outpatient surgical settings offer a streamlined experience, with a focus on efficiency and recovery in an environment designed specifically for orthopedic procedures.
